Train Services Through Coimbatore Altered Due to Maintenance

Southern Railway has announced changes in the schedules of various trains passing through Coimbatore due to maintenance activities. Key train services will be rerouted via Irugur - Podanur instead of stopping at Coimbatore Junction.

Coimbatore: Southern Railway recently announced a temporary modification in the routes of several train services passing through Coimbatore due to ongoing maintenance work. This change will affect routes mainly involving the Irugur - Podanur section instead of the usual stops at Coimbatore Junction.

According to the new scheduling, trains such as the Dibrugarh - Kanyakumari Vivek Express (Train No.22504), Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central Express (Train No.16159), New Delhi - Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Express (Train No.12626), KSR Bengaluru - Ernakulam Jn Intercity Express (Train No.12677), Shalimar - Thiruvananthapuram Express (Train No.22642), and Srimatha Vaishno Devi Katra - Kanyakumari Himsagar Express (Train No.16318) have been diverted through Irugur - Podanur. These changes will be effective on specified dates in June 2024 avoiding stops at Coimbatore Junction.

Furthermore, Alappuzha - Dhanbad Express (Train No.13352) and Ernakulam Jn - KSR Bengaluru Intercity Express (Train No.12678) will also be rerouted via the same detour. Passengers usually boarding or alighting at Coimbatore Junction should take note of these diversions and plan their journeys accordingly since stops will now be provided at Podanur Junction instead.

This decision comes as part of the railway's maintenance initiatives aimed at ensuring safer and more efficient service. Commuters are advised to check the latest train schedules and updates before traveling.
