Awareness Program on Traffic Rules and Cybercrime Held in Coimbatore

On Thursday at noon, an awareness event on traffic violations and cybersecurity was held at Gandhipuram signal in Coimbatore, attended by city officials and police.


Coimbatore: In a significant effort to raise public awareness, an informative event was held at Gandhipuram signal on Thursday, focusing on traffic rule violations and cybercrime issues. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan together with Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, Rohit,N and other police officials participated in this initiative.



To engage and educate citizens, a magic show was included, demonstrating the severe consequences of not adhering to traffic regulations.



Magician Dhayaa illustrated the importance of wearing helmets and refraining from drunken driving by riding a bike blindfolded, starting from Gandhipuram to R.S. Puram, symbolically stressing on traffic safety.



During his interaction with journalists, Commissioner Balakrishnan emphasized that even if one could hypothetically drive blindfolded, driving without helmets or under the influence of alcohol is strictly forbidden. He mentioned ongoing concerns about young individuals driving after consuming alcohol and stressed that parents should not purchase vehicles for their children until they are of legal age and possess a valid driver’s license. Stringent actions were promised against those who continuously violate traffic norms.

The commissioner also noted that CCTV cameras at traffic points across Coimbatore are actively monitoring and documenting violations, with further actions planned to incapacitate habitual offenders.
