Coimbatore Woman Goes Viral for Rescuing an 8-feet Rat Snake

Uma Maheswari from Ganapathy, Coimbatore, recently went viral after capturing and releasing an 8-foot long Rat Snake into the wild in Puliyakulam area.


Coimbatore: Uma Maheswari, a resident of Ganapathy, Coimbatore, has been known in her community for capturing snakes and handing them over to the forest department since her childhood. In a recent incident that caught the eye of social media users, she rescued an 8-foot long Rat Snake that had entered a residential area in Puliyakulam.

After safely capturing the reptile, she released it back into the wild, highlighting her commitment to peaceful coexistence between humans and snakes. Maheswari has always advocated for protecting snakes, urging people not to harm them and to ensure both human and snake safety. This video of her brave act has been circulating on social media platforms since May 25, garnering widespread attention and praise.
