Coimbatore Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill Child

In Saibaba Colony, Coimbatore, a man named Pachaiyan was arrested for threatening to kill his child after a dispute with his estranged wife.

Coimbatore: A disturbing incident occurred in Saibaba Colony, Coimbatore, leading to the arrest of a 39-year-old man, Pachaiyan, a daily wage laborer. Reports indicate that Pachaiyan is known to frequently return home intoxicated and engage in arguments with his wife, Aarthi. The situation escalated recently following a severe dispute, after which Aarthi left for her parents' house in Madurai, leaving their child with Pachaiyan.

According to sources, last Thursday, as Aarthi refused to return to Coimbatore following a call from Pachaiyan, he threatened her over the phone, stating he would kill their child if she did not come back. Fearing for her child's safety, Aarthi informed her aunt Ponni, who lives in the same locality, about the threat.

Acting swiftly, Ponni, aged 50, along with some locals, went to Pachaiyan's house and rescued the child. Following a complaint filed by Ponni, the Saibaba Colony police registered a case and arrested Pachaiyan on May 24.

The incident has stirred concerns in the community about domestic violence and the safety of vulnerable family members during personal disputes.
