Tragic Road Accident Near Dharapuram Results in Multiple Injuries and a Fatality

Near Dharapuram, a Tata Ace vehicle en route to a temple capsized leading to injuries of 19 individuals and the death of an elderly woman. Authorities are investigating.


Coimbatore: A catastrophic road mishap occurred near Dharapuram when a Tata Ace vehicle, carrying passengers to a special event at the Malayala Karuppannaswamy Temple, lost control and overturned. The unsettling incident took place close to Thulukkavalsu in the Mulanur region near Dharapuram.



The vehicle was transporting over 20 persons from Dindigul district who were headed to a temple near Pattuthurai. In a shocking turn of events, the vehicle swerved unpredictably and overturned beside the road.



The accident resulted in the severe injury of 19 passengers while tragically claiming the life of a woman named Pottiyammal, aged 55.

Subramaniam (56), Sathya (14), Manimekalai (35), Nagarathinam (36), Mariammal (36), Selvapriya (17), Eswari (39), another Eswari (30), Latchmi (47), and Subramani (60), along with 10 others from Palaniyammal (70), were among those affected.



The injured were immediately rescued by locals and dispatched for medical treatment - 12 being admitted to Dharapuram Government Hospital and the remaining eight to Vellakovil Government Hospital.

The police from Mulanur are conducting a thorough investigation into the accident, seeking to understand the factors leading to this unfortunate event, and ensuring necessary measures to avoid future occurrences.
