Over 7 Lakh People Did Not Vote in Coimbatore, District Collector Reports

In Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency, out of over 21 lakh eligible voters, around 7 lakh did not vote, as reported by District Collector on April 22.

Coimbatore: Despite various awareness campaigns aimed at achieving 100% voter turnout led by the Election Commission and district administration, Coimbatore witnessed a significant number of absent voters in the recent elections. According to Kranthi Kumar Pati, Coimbatore District Collector, of the total 21,06,124 registered voters in Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency, only 64.81% cast their votes. This leaves over 7 lakh voters who did not participate in the voting process. The district has been actively promoting voter participation, aligning with the Election Commission's campaign to ensure complete electoral involvement. However, this large number of non-participating voters underlines the challenges remaining in mobilizing the entire electorate.
