TNAU Hosts Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights in Agricultural Sciences

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University conducted a two-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights protection in Agricultural Sciences, guiding students on novelty assessments and invention disclosures.


Coimbatore: The School of Post Graduate Studies at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, held a comprehensive two-day workshop focused on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Designs, and Copyright Protection in Agricultural Sciences. The event took place at Anna Auditorium, starting on the 19th of February 2024. Dr. N. Natarajan, Co-Ordinator of the Patent Cell at the School of Graduate Studies, inaugurated the session by welcoming the participants, while Dr. N. Senthil, Dean of SPGS, provided the keynote address.



During the workshop, Ms. Bimi, Deputy Director of the Patent and Designs Division at the Patent Office, Chennai, emphasized the importance of utilizing free online resources for assessing the novelty and inventiveness of inventions. She also guided the attendees on accurately filling out the Invention Disclosure Form (IDF). Furthermore, Ms. V. Girija, an Intellectual Property Specialist and Patent Attorney and the Founder of IPaatEntiti IP, shed light on the different facets of IPR, offering detailed insights into its various aspects.

The Vice-Chancellor of TNAU encouraged students to explore innovative strategies through their research and highlighted the significance of protecting such innovations. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. K. Ganesan, Associate Professor, marking the end of a fruitful session aimed at enriching the students' understanding of intellectual property rights within the realm of agricultural sciences.
