Coimbatore Police Raise Awareness on Bonded Labour Practices

Ahead of the Bonded Labour System Abolition Day on February 9, Coimbatore City Police conducted an awareness campaign at the Coimbatore Railway Station today, involving various departments to educate the public on the eradication of bonded labour.


Coimbatore: In anticipation of the Bonded Labour System Abolition Day, observed on February 9, the Coimbatore City Police, in collaboration with the Railway Police and the District Child Protection Unit, initiated an awareness campaign today (Feb. 8) at the Coimbatore Railway Station.

The initiative aimed to enlighten the public about the importance of eradicating bonded labour practices. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan addressed the gathering, explaining the significance of Bonded Labour System Abolition Day and the methods to eliminate such practices.



Furthermore, he engaged with passengers, including those from other states, in Hindi to spread awareness more effectively.



The campaign also involved distributing leaflets containing information on atrocities against children, responsibilities of parents, children's rights, child adoption procedures, and prevention of child marriage. This event marks a crucial step towards raising public consciousness about bonded labour and ensuring the protection and rights of children in Coimbatore.
