AIADMK District Councilor Among Seven Arrested for Illegal Gambling in Alandurai, Coimbatore

Coimbatore police have arrested an AIADMK district councilor and six others for their involvement in illegal gambling activities in the Alandurai area.


Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on illegal gambling, the Alandurai police arrested seven individuals, including an AIADMK district councilor, in the Alandurai region near Coimbatore. The arrests were made following a tip-off about gambling activities in Urupalayam Pudur, Gautham's garden in Alandurai.

The covert operation was conducted last night by a joint team of special police and Alandurai police. Upon their arrival at the scene, they found several individuals engaged in gambling activities.

The police subsequently apprehended seven people involved in the gambling. Among the arrested was Pradeep, identified as an AIADMK district councilor. The others detained were Kanagaraj (40), Selvam (55), Kandasamy (52), Mariappan (56), Rajasekaran (45), and Gautham (38). The police also seized 2.5 lakh rupees in cash from the site.

The apprehension of the AIADMK district councilor along with the six individuals has led to a thorough investigation by the police to further understand the extent of the illegal gambling network in the area.
