Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on the illegal sale of tobacco products, Coimbatore Police conducted a raid in Irugur, leading to the seizure of 40 kilograms of prohibited tobacco items.

The police received a tip-off about the sale of these items at a local grocery store. Following the lead, the Singanallur Police inspected the shop and discovered the banned products. The shop owner, 40-year-old Rajendran, was arrested in connection with the sale of these illegal items.

This operation is part of a wider effort by the Coimbatore Police to enforce the ban on certain tobacco products in grocery and petty shops across the district.
