Car cylinder explosion case - National Investigation Agency officials conduct searches in Coimbatore

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting searches at 22 locations in Coimbatore and three locations in Chennai in connection with the Coimbatore car cylinder blast.



Coimbatore: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting searches at the residences of more than 20 persons suspected to be in touch with banned outfits in connection with the Ukkadam car blast incident.

Jamesha Mubin, who was driving the car, died on the spot. He is said to have links with a terrorist organisation and may have hatched a conspiracy to blow up a car cylinder in a stampede on the occasion of Diwali to cause casualties.

However, the police did not know what to do with the vehicle audit and it is learnt that Mubin died after detonating the cylinder of the car.



During the investigation, it was found that 11 persons, including Azharuddin, Feroz Ismail and Umar Farooq, all residents of The Nilgiris district of Coimbatore, were involved in the incident.

Following this, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested all the 11 accused and lodged them in Puzhal jail in Chennai. A chargesheet was filed against them in the Poonamallee special court. The NIA has arrested Mohammed Idris, a resident of G M Nagar in Ukkadam in Coimbatore, in connection with the case.

Idris, who was arrested as the 12th person in the cylinder blast, was brought to Chennai. He is mubin's friend. He was involved in a lot of criminal activities before the cylinder exploded.It was also revealed that he was being monitored by nia officials. Similarly, for the past three years, the officials have been examining the mobile phone of Mohammad Idris.

Idris was questioned in Coimbatore. It was at this stage that he was arrested. Based on the statements of the arrested persons, the NIA is conducting searches at 22 locations in Coimbatore in connection with the ukkadam car cylinder blast.



Searches are being conducted at the homes of those who were associated with banned outfits at Ukkadam, Podanur and Karumbukkadai in Coimbatore.



Searches are also being conducted at the residences of Abu Tahir in GM Nagar, Sukhail in Kuniyamuthur and Mansoor at a sugarcane shop. Similarly, raids are being conducted at a place in Tenkasi. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting searches at three locations in Chennai.



The NIA has been conducting searches at the residence of Ibrahim, a professor at Kongu Nadu Arts and Science College in Goundampalayam Peons Colony area of Coimbatore since this morning.
