The doctors said the deceased was a female wild cow, aged around 5-6 years, and that the wild cow may have died of cardiac shock caused by the breakdown of the thoracic bone due to the impact of the vehicle and bleeding in the chest cavity.

Wild cows crossed two roads near Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary on the Anaikatti-Coimbatore road last evening. At that time, a wild cow died on the spot after being hit by a truck coming from there. Another wild cow got injured and went into the forest.

The post-mortem was conducted by Forest Veterinary Surgeon Sukumar in the presence of Divisional Assistant Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore Range Officer and members of an NGO led by the District Forest Officer of Coimbatore Forest Division this morning.
