Accident during demolition of an old building: Worker crushed to death after cement roof falls near Kundadam

Cement roof of the portico area collapsed and fell on Subramaniam. He was trapped under the debris and his head was crushed to death on the spot.

Coimbatore: Gopalakrishnan hails from Thumbalapatti near Kundadam near Dharapuram in Tirupur district. His own building is in the upland shop.

It was decided to demolish and replace the building and the work was going on for it. Subramanyam (34), son of Lakshmanan of Subramanianagar in Tirupur, and Mohammed Rafeeq (59), a resident of Periyathottam in Tirupur, were engaged in demolishing the portico in front of the building.

Unfortunately, the cement roof of the portico area collapsed and fell on Subramaniam. He was trapped under the debris and his head was crushed to death on the spot. The police rushed to the spot and recovered Subbaramaniyam's body and sent it to dharapuram government hospital for post-mortem.

Mohammad Rafeeq escaped unhurt. Kundadam police have registered a case based on the complaint and are investigating the matter.
