Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi kumar Pati released a draft electoral roll consisting of elected members of rural and urban local bodies to cast their votes in the elections. Additional Collector (Development) Alarmel Mangai received the release of the same by the District Collector at the Collectorate.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi kumar Pati announced the list of elected members and electors who will vote in the Coimbatore District Planning Committee election.
The Tamil Nadu Government has announced in the Gazette that a total of 18 members will be elected to the District Planning Committee, five from the District Panchayat, which is a rural area for the Coimbatore District, and 13 from urban areas such as Town Panchayats, Municipalities, and Corporations.
According to the order of the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, the district collector released the draft electoral roll, which included district panchayat members elected in rural and urban local bodies, as well as ward members of urban areas such as town panchayats, municipalities, and corporation ward members, to enable members of the Coimbatore district planning committee to vote in the elections.
Accordingly, the total number of members in the district panchayat is 100, the total number of members in the 7 municipalities is 198 and the total number of members in the 33 town panchayats is 513.
There are a total of 3 vacancies - 2 vacancies in Mettupalayam and Pollachi Municipality and one vacancy in Dhaliyur Town Panchayat. It has also been announced that the final electoral roll will be released on 04.05.2023.
