16-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Udumalpet, two arrested under POCSO act

Police have arrested Veeramuthu (23) and Thangaraj (29) under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting and blackmailing a 16-year-old girl from Narasingapuram near Madathukulam and making her four months pregnant.


Tirupur: Police have arrested two youths who sexually assaulted a 16 year old girl and made her Pregnant near Madathukulam.

Veeramuthu (23) hails from Narasingapuram near Madathukulam in Tirupur district. Working as a driver, he was allegedly in love with a 16-year-old girl from the same locality.

The girl, who was studying in Class 10, had dropped out of school and was at home. Taking advantage of this, Veeramuthu took advantage of this and took the girl away on the pretext of having sexual relations with her.

Meanwhile, the relationship between the two was revealed to her sister's husband Thangaraj (29), a native of Sarkarputhur near Udumalpet. Following this, Thangaraj threatened to reveal the relationship between the two of them and sexually assaulted the woman.

The two took turns to sexually assault the girl and there were changes in her body. The girl was subsequently examined and found to be four months pregnant.

The girl then asked her boyfriend Veeramuthu to marry her. He told her he wasn't the father of the child growing in her womb and told her she ought to ask her sister's husband.



Upset over this, the girl lodged a complaint with Udumalai All Women Police Station Inspector Kavitha. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and are investigating the matter.

In this case, both Veeramuthu and Thangaraj were arrested under the POCSO Act. They were later produced before the Tirupur Mahila Court and sent to jail.

In a shocking incident, the girl was threatened and sexually assaulted by her lover and her sister's family member who came to know about the relationship in Madathukulam.
