Rs 24.59, lakh relief distributed to beneficiaries at the mass contact programme held at Valparai

Coimbatore: A sum of Rs 24.59 lakh was distributed as a relief to 133 beneficiaries at a mass contact programme which was presided over by District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati in Valparai.

Creating a buzz, the INTUC secretary Paramasivan disguised himself as a beggar and submitted a petition to the collector at the programme.



A total of 270 petitions were received at. the camp and action were taken on the petitions already received in the mass contact programme.

Seven Adivasi tribal villages in Valparai namely Udumbanparai, Kallarkudi, Paraman Kadavu, Palakinar, Cinkona, Sankarankudi and Nedunkundram under Valparai forest range were given social rights.



Also, various beneficiaries were distributed with sewing machines, TAHDCO Loans, family cards, differently-abled persons' equipments during the programme.



At the same event, INTUC party secretary Paramasivan disguised himself as a beggar and submitted a novel petition to the collector. In his petition, a plea was made to address the labourer wage issues for tea plantation workers in the Valparai area.

Similarly, demands for a new place for the evicted pavement shops have been made.

"To make Valparai an attractive tourist destination, pending works should be started on the boat house, and the botanical garden" said Municipal Vice-Chairman Senthil.
