Coimbatore girl sexual assault case: Accused gets 10 years in jail

Coimbatore: A mahila court has sentenced a POCSO accused to 10 years in jail in connection with the rape of a minor girl at Annur in Coimbatore district.


coimbatore: Thangaraj (42), a resident of Erode district, was arrested in 2016 on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl, a resident of Annur police station limits in Coimbatore district. The case in this regard was going on in the Coimbatore District Mahila Court.

The verdict was delivered yesterday after the arguments of both the sides were completed and the hearing was concluded.



The judge sentenced Thangaraj to 10 years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.

Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Badrinarayanan appreciated the investigating officer for investigating the case in a very effective manner and court constable Parasuraman for presenting the witnesses in the court in a better manner.
