In a major drive, Regional Transport Authorities seize 50 vehicles without credentials and mandatory tax receipts

The Regional Transport authorities conducted a drive and seized 50 vehicles for defaulting on payment of road tax, non-renewal of RC book and other essential credentials.


Coimbatore: The Nilgiris and Tiruppur districts are covered under the Coimbatore Range Transport Department.

A major drive was conducted in various parts of Coimbatore district to bring to book offenders as per the motor vehicles act.

In Trichy Road, Mettupalayam Road, Nanjundapuram Road, Valankulam Road and Sulur, Motor vehicle inspectors and Regional TransportOofficers conducted an inspection by intercepting a large number of vehicles.

A total of 347 vehicles were checked for more than two hours and the vehicles were seized for non-payment of road tax, non-renewal of vehicle permits, and fitness certificates,

A total fine of over Rs 6 lakh was also imposed on defaulters.

Motorists were advised to keep the documents updated with taxes, insurance, permits, and other credentials.

Coimbatore Joint Commissioner of Transport Sivakumaran has instructed the officials to carry out such inspections regularly and bring the offenders to book.
