Illegal Liquor Sale: Over 100 Bottles Seized, 7 Arrested in Coimbatore

Coimbatore Police have arrested seven people for allegedly selling liquor illegally near TASMAC outlets and in public places across the city. More than 100 liquor bottles, along with ₹18,600 in cash, were seized during the checks conducted at multiple locations.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police have arrested seven people for allegedly selling liquor illegally near government TASMAC outlets and in public places across Coimbatore. More than 100 liquor bottles were seized during the checks.

At Katoor near the Gandhipuram Town Bus Stand, police arrested Karikalan (29), from Thanjavur, for allegedly selling liquor illegally and seized 13 Old Chef liquor bottles from him.

At Thudiyalur near Kamalesh Kalyana Mandapam, Prabhakaran (43), from Thanjavur, was arrested and six Old Chef bottles were seized. At G.N. Mills, police arrested Muthukumar (46), from Sivaganga, and seized three King Louis liquor bottles and ₹18,600 in cash. Police are also searching for a person identified as Nagalingam, who is reportedly absconding.

Near the TASMAC outlet at Manickam Nagar in Singanallur, Kaliraj (22), from Tenkasi, was arrested and seven Seamans and three Jet liquor bottles were seized. At Gandhinagar in Saravanampatti, police arrested Kannan (36), from Sivaganga, and seized four SNJ liquor bottles.

During a special drive conducted by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing, police arrested Arunkumar (30), from Tenkasi, in Peelamedu and seized three Copper and three Diamond rum bottles from him.

At Thadagam Road, police arrested Marichamy (76), from Theni, for allegedly selling liquor illegally and seized 40 Seamans and 26 Express liquor bottles.

Police have registered cases against those arrested and further investigation is underway.
