Police have arrested two youths for assaulting an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly stopping them from knocking down the tube lights that has been put up for a temple festival.

Two tipplers in a drunken state started breaking the tube lights in the area. Rajan, an auto rickshaw driver from the area, who witnessed their behaviour, slapped them.
Enraged by this, the youth attacked the auto driver Rajan in an inebriated state. Neighbours rescued the seriously injured auto driver and sent him to Pollachi Government hospital for treatment.

Based on Rajan's complaint, Kinathukadavu police station inspector Senthil Kumar and sub-inspector Karuppusamy Pandian have registered a case and arrested Rajkumar (22) and Sulaiman (21), both residents of Periyar Nagar, who were involved in the attack.
