Locals disgruntled over inauguration of DMK office at burial ground near Palladam in Tirupur

The public alleged that the DMK had encroached upon the land during Pongal holidays to set up its party office.

Tirupur: With Pongal festival being celebrated in Tamil Nadu for the last three days in a vacant area which is reportedly a burial ground behind the bus stand in Madhapur village, it was also reported that the inauguration of the DMK party office was held on Wednesday morning in the area with DMK flags and decorations flying high.

The DMK party office has been constructed in an area surrounded by Government buildings, including the Village Administrative Office and the library, and is reportedly said to be a burial ground. When questioned about this, the Palladam Tahsildar clarified that a notice would be issued to remove the encroachment and action would be taken. Pongalur Union Chairman, Kumar also mentioned that a tea stall was already operational in the same land.

Ashok Kumar of the BJP is the President of Madhapur Panchayat under the Pongalur block next to Palladam in Tirupur district.
