Scuffle between police and a group of youth during bike procession to garland Veerapandiya Kattabomman statue near Tirupur

Youths who took out a two-wheeler procession to the statue of Veerapandiya Kattabomman in Tirupur caused accidents. A scuffle with the policemen ensued when the police warned them.


Tirupur: On the occasion of the 264th birth anniversary of Veerapandiya Kattabomman, various organisations across Tamil Nadu are garlanding and offering tributes to the late freedom fighter.

Various programmes have been organized on behalf of the Veerapandiya Kattabomman Cultural Society to pay homage to Kattabomman.



Political parties paid floral tributes to the statue of Veerapandiya Kattabomman located in the Mannarai area on Uthukuli Road in Tirupur today.



When the youth belonging to Veerapandiya Kattabomman society took out a procession in 100 two-wheelers on the Uthukuli road shouting slogans on two-wheelers, an accident occurred.



Following this, the police who reached the spot warned them to abide by road rules.



In the melee, a youth grabbed the shirts of police inspector Udhayakumar and sub-inspector Ilanchezhiyan, who advised the precisionists following which a scuffle ensued.

However, order was restored soon by the police.
