Woman arrested near city's Podanur area for killing inebriated quarrelsome husband with grinder stone

The wife allegedly killing her inebriated husband by throwing a grinder stone on his sleeping head after their frequent quarrels over his alcoholism, near Podanur in Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: Rangan (35) and Kokila (30), a couple from Pillayarpuram Sivanmalai area next to Podanur in Coimbatore district have been married for eight years and have a 7-year-old daughter.

It is said that there were frequent arguments between Rangan and his wife Kokila due to his alcoholism. On Sunday, Rangan was as usual drunk since morning, and hence a dispute arose between the two.

It is reported that on Sunday night, when Rangan went to sleep, at around 11.30 pm Kokila picked up the grinder stone and hit Rangan on his head in a fit of rage. Rangan's relative who rushed to their home on hearing screams, rescued Rangan and rushed him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital in an 108 ambulance. Doctors at the hospital who examined him stated that he was brought dead.



Following this, the Podanur police who were informed of the incident sent Rangan's body for post-mortem and arrested Kokila. They have also registered a case against her and are investigating.
