Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a beauty parlour employee, Prabhu, at Thudiyalur in Coimbatore last week. His body was chopped into 12 pieces and dumped at various places.

Coimbatore: Five days ago, a man was found with his left hand severed in a dustbin in Thudiyalur Vellakinar area of Coimbatore.

Eight special squads were formed on the orders of district SP Badrinarayanan to investigate the incident. Within three days, it was confirmed that the deceased was Prabhu, a native of Erode district, who was working at a beauty parlour on Cross Cut Road in Coimbatore.

Two other parts were found in a well near Thudiyalur market this morning which created a huge controversy. After further investigation, the Special Cell police arrested three persons, including a woman named Kavitha, for brutally murdering Prabhu and throwing away the body parts.

A press conference on the murder case was held at the district SP's office this evening. Speaking on the occasion, West Zone IG Sudhakar, DIG Muthusamy and District SP Badrinarayanan said that 150 CCTV cameras were examined in connection with the case and it was revealed that three persons — Amul Diwakar (35), Karthik (24) and Kavitha (39), had brutally murdered Prabhu.

Kavitha, a woman, runs a beauty parlour in Saravanampatti area. While both Prabhu and Kavitha were acquainted, Prabhu used to threaten Kavitha by taking photos.

Angered by this, Kavitha along with her male friends hatched a plan to decide to kill Prabhu. On the day of the incident, two persons took Prabhu on a two-wheeler. It was found that Kavitha's cell phone and Prabhu's cell phone were switched off at the same time.

Later, the trio chopped him into 12 pieces and killed him.

His body parts were dumped in the drain, well and garbage bin. So far, 8 body parts have been recovered and the remaining parts are in the process of being traced.

Kavitha and Prabhu were already in a relationship and he had been constantly threatening her with her intimate photos and Kavitha along with her other male friends killed Prabhu.

IG Sudhakar appreciated the 43 police personnel who have done well in the special task force to nab the culprits.
