Police Constable M. Vijay of the Coimbatore City Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), who won gold in the Room Search event on Thursday, added a bronze medal in the VIP Access Control event on Thursday at the State-level Anti-Sabotage Check Competition 2026 in Chennai.
Coimbatore: After striking gold in the Room Search event a day earlier, Police Constable M. Vijay of the Coimbatore City Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) added another medal to his tally by winning bronze in the VIP Access Control event at the ongoing State-level Anti-Sabotage Check Competition 2026 in Chennai.
The competition, organised by the Tamil Nadu Police, is being held at R.C. Avadi in Chennai from September 8 to 11 to enhance the bomb detection and anti-sabotage skills of police personnel. Teams from various city police units, ranges and specialised wings are taking part in the State-level event.
The VIP Access Control event was held on the fourth day of the competition on September 11. Representing the Coimbatore City Police BDDS, PC 1657 M. Vijay scored 69 marks to secure third place and win the bronze medal.
Vijay had won the gold medal in the Room Search event on September 10, scoring 75 marks and securing first place. His latest achievement marks a second individual medal for him at the ongoing competition.
The Coimbatore City Police BDDS team has so far secured two gold medals and one bronze medal at the competition, emerging as the top-performing team at the State level, according to the police.
City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Kannan congratulated M. Vijay and PC 1739 P. Surya for the team’s achievement.
