Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Kannan, IPS, chaired a review meeting with FL2 bar licence holders and warned that violations of regulations could lead to legal action, including licence cancellation.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police on Tuesday warned FL2 bar licence holders of strict action, including possible cancellation of licences and legal proceedings, for violations of government regulations, licence conditions and activities affecting public peace.
The warning was issued at a review meeting with FL2 bar licence holders chaired by Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Kannan, IPS., today. The Commissioner instructed bar operators to strictly adhere to government regulations and permitted operating hours, warning that violations would invite stringent action.
The police also laid down a series of operational requirements for the establishments, including the proper maintenance of membership and visitor registers and the recording of visitors’ identification details, including Aadhaar details, as required under the rules. Persons below the age of 18 should not be allowed inside the bars, the operators were told.
Bar owners were further directed to maintain stock registers with details of opening stock, purchases, sales and closing stock, and produce the required records and documents during inspections by the police and other departments. They were also asked to ensure that CCTV cameras installed at the establishments function round the clock and to promptly inform the police about suspicious persons or illegal activities.
The Commissioner warned of strict action against establishments found in possession of liquor from other States or involved in the illegal sale of liquor. He also stressed that FL2 bars should operate only from the premises approved under their licences and should not function from any other location.
The police further instructed bar operators to ensure that their establishments did not cause inconvenience to the public or disturb public peace. Violations of the rules or activities affecting public order could result in the cancellation of the licences of the FL2 bar and recreation club, apart from other legal action, the Commissioner warned.
Notably, an FL2 bar on Peelamedu-Vilankurichi Road was sealed earlier on Monday following a police case over an altercation between two groups at the establishment and other alleged licence violations, including causing public nuisance.
