Two persons from Tiruppur district died after the Bolero vehicle they were travelling in lost control and overturned into a pond near Semmandampalayam Pudur in Coimbatore district. Karumathampatti police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
Coimbatore: Two persons were killed after the Bolero vehicle they were travelling in lost control and plunged into a pond near Karumathampatti in Coimbatore district.
The deceased have been identified as Chennaiyappan and Padmanabhan, residents of 63 Velampalayam in Tiruppur district. The two were travelling in the Bolero along the road near the bund of the Semmandampalayam Pudur pond.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle reportedly lost control while travelling along the pond-side road and overturned into the water. Both occupants were trapped in the vehicle and drowned.
On receiving information about the accident, police personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two victims. The bodies were subsequently sent to the ESI Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The SUV, which plunged into the pond, remains in the water and has not yet been recovered.
