A special camp for persons with disabilities was inaugurated and inspected by Mayor Ranganayaki Ramachandran at Kaumara Madalayam, Chinnavedampatti, on August 28. The camp provided medical examinations, disability certificates and access to welfare schemes implemented through various government departments.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore: A special camp for persons with disabilities was organised at Kumaraguru Mandapam in Kaumara Madalayam, Chinnavedampatti, under the Coimbatore Corporation’s North Zone.
Mayor Ranganayaki Ramachandran inaugurated the camp and inspected the facilities on August 28. Medical examinations by specialist doctors, issuance of disability certificates and identification of beneficiaries for welfare schemes implemented through 20 government departments were among the services provided.
Participants could also submit applications for housing, financial assistance, medical treatment, employment opportunities, loans, Aadhaar corrections and registration under the Chief Minister’s health insurance scheme.
The Mayor also inspected physiotherapy services and blood pressure testing being provided at the camp.
District Differently Abled Welfare Officer Vasantharaman Kumar, North Zone Chairperson V. Kathirvel, Assistant Commissioner Mohanasundari, Councillor Palanisamy alias Siravai Siva, and other Corporation and government department officials were present.
