Coimbatore: Gudalur Municipality's health department has imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on a private company after an inspection found conditions favourable for the breeding of AEDES mosquitoes, which spread dengue fever, at its premises.
The health department has been carrying out intensive inspections and preventive measures across the Gudalur Municipality area near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore to curb the breeding of AEDES mosquitoes that spread dengue fever.
As part of this drive, officials inspected the premises of a private company operating within the Gudalur Municipality limits and found materials and containers kept in an open condition, allowing rainwater to stagnate and create conditions suitable for mosquito breeding.
Following this finding, Gudalur Municipality imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the company for creating an environment conducive to the breeding of mosquito larvae. The company was also directed to remove the stagnant water from its premises and to maintain the surroundings clean and hygienic so that mosquitoes do not breed there in the future.
