Coimbatore-based event tech startup Ticket9 secures investment from actor Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan. The funds will be used to enhance technology, user experience, and market expansion.

Coimbatore: Ticket9, a Coimbatore-based event tech startup, has announced a significant investment from renowned actor Nayanthara and her husband, director Vignesh Shivan. While the exact funding amount remains undisclosed, the company plans to utilize the fresh capital to strengthen its technology, improve user experience, and expand into new markets.

Founded in 2022 by Yazhini Shanmugam and Santhos Premraj, Ticket9 is an event tech SaaS platform designed to create, promote, connect, and manage events. The startup focuses on live events and aims to enhance event management processes to drive revenue growth while helping attendees discover personalized events in their vicinity.

Vignesh Shivan expressed his confidence in Ticket9's potential, stating, "Ticket9 is well on its way to becoming a dynamic player in the events and entertainment space, and I have no doubt it will grow into a unicorn. I truly believe in its potential, and together we can soar with this user-friendly platform, making a significant impact in both the entertainment industry and the event space."

Santhos Premraj, co-founder of Ticket9, emphasized the evolving nature of the entertainment industry in India, saying, "The entertainment industry in India is evolving rapidly, with technology reshaping how people experience live events. Our mission is to seamlessly merge technology with entertainment, creating effortless, enjoyable experiences for organizers and attendees alike."

Prior to this investment, Ticket9 had raised $200,000 in a pre-seed round last year. Notable investors in that round included M2P cofounder Prabhu Rangarajan, bitsCrunch founder and CEO Vijay Pravin Maharajan, CTO Ashok Vardharajan, Ippopay's founder and CEO Mohan K, and CTO Jaikumar. Additional investors included Growfin's Head of AI and ML Sudalai Rajkumar, Wilcosource cofounder Sundararaman Ramasamy, and Witree's CTO Selvamuthukumar, along with angels from the US, Singapore, Australia, and Bangkok.

In the competitive landscape of SaaS-based event ticketing platforms, Ticket9 faces competition from established players such as BookMyShow, Paytm Insider (now called District after Zomato's acquisition), and EventsNow. With this new investment and the backing of high-profile investors from the entertainment industry, Ticket9 is poised to strengthen its position in the market and drive innovation in the event tech space.
