Near Pollachi, Anaimalai police detained a father and son early yesterday for trafficking ganja and chocolates infused with drugs, using a two-wheeler.
Coimbatore: In a recent vehicle inspection conducted by the Anaimalai police near Pollachi, a father and son duo was found smuggling narcotics, including a significant amount of ganja and drug-infused chocolates. The arrests took place around midnight in the Thathur area near Pollachi.

During the scrutiny, officers discovered the narcotics in a bag on their two-wheeler. Upon further investigation, Mohammad Sahabuddin and his son Arif Raja confessed to transporting 8.4 kilograms of ganja and 3.1 kilograms of drug-infused chocolates. They admitted to sourcing these drugs from Bihar and were heading to Kangikode, Kerala for sales purposes.
This is not Sahabuddin’s first encounter with law enforcement; he was previously registered in a similar ganja smuggling case back in 2007 in Coimbatore's ka ka chavadi police station. As of now, both suspects are detained under three different sections concerning drug trafficking and are being held as the investigations continue.
