Industry Heads met PM Modi in Coimbatore; Airport Expansion emphasized!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ravi Sam (Chairman of CII SR Subcommittee) in Coimbatore post his road show on Monday, discussing expansion of Coimbatore airport, direct international flights, and other developmental projects including the Ram Setu boat facility and cleaning initiatives in Rameswaram.

Coimbatore: After a grand road show in Coimbatore on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with several industrial leaders to discuss developmental initiatives and projects.

Among those who the PM met was the The Chairman of CII SR Subcommittee on Sustainability, CSR & Affirmative Action, Ravi Sam, who highlighted the crucial need for the expansion of Coimbatore airport and the introduction of direct flights to foreign countries.

This, according to Ravi Sam, would significantly benefit the industrial sector in Coimbatore, facilitating easier travel for business purposes and promoting international trade.

Ravi Sam emphasized the challenges faced due to the absence of direct international flight services from Coimbatore. Currently, residents and business personnel need to travel to other cities to catch flights to overseas destinations, a situation that hampers the ease of doing business and personal convenience.

Furthermore, the introduction of direct international flights would greatly accelerate business growth in the region, Ravi Sam pointed out.

He also discussed the necessity of establishing boat services in the stretch between Dhanushkodi and the Ram Setu bridge, underlining its importance for the area.

Additionally, efforts made towards cleaning water bodies in Rameswaram were presented to the Prime Minister, shedding light on the environmental and cleanliness drives in the region.

Listening intently to these discussions, Prime Minister Modi assured the leaders that post-elections, decisive steps would be taken towards signing trade agreements with European countries, further bolstering India's economic ties and fostering growth in regions like Coimbatore.
