Coimbatore Under Tight Security as PM Modi Arrives for Mega NDA Rally Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a mega NDA election rally at CODISSIA Grounds in Coimbatore this evening. With lakhs of supporters expected to attend, the city has been placed under an extensive security blanket, with 3,000 police personnel deployed and drone restrictions imposed across key zones.

Coimbatore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Coimbatore on Saturday evening to address a massive public rally in support of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates contesting in western Tamil Nadu.

The high-profile election meeting will be held at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex on Avinashi Road at around 6 pm. During the rally, Modi is expected to campaign for NDA candidates contesting in Assembly constituencies across Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Nilgiris districts.

Senior alliance leaders, including BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran, Union Minister L. Murugan and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, along with other coalition leaders, are expected to participate in the event.

Elaborate arrangements have been made at the venue, including a massive stage and seating facilities for nearly five lakh people. Large LED screens and lighting towers have been installed across the grounds to ensure clear visibility of the Prime Minister’s speech even from the farthest sections of the venue.

Dedicated parking areas have also been earmarked near the grounds to manage the expected influx of vehicles and party supporters.

In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, security has been significantly tightened across Coimbatore city and surrounding areas. Around 3,000 police personnel have been deployed for bandobast duty, while central security agencies have taken control of key locations including the airport, Chitra junction and CODISSIA Grounds.

Several areas in the city have been declared high-security zones, including Avinashi Road, Hopes, Peelamedu, Chitra, Gandhi Managar, Nehru Nagar, Singanallur, Chinniyampalayam, Kalapatti, Neelambur and Irugur.

As part of security measures, the district administration has imposed a temporary ban on flying drones and other aerial devices in these zones. The restrictions came into force from 5 pm on Friday and will remain in effect until 5 pm on Sunday. Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators.

Traffic diversions have also been announced on Airport Road and Avinashi Road. Entry of private vehicles into the airport zone has been restricted between 4 pm and 8 pm on Saturday.

Police personnel have intensified surveillance operations across the city ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, with multi-layered security arrangements in place for the major political event.
