Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, in association with TANSCHE, organised a one-day workshop on curriculum design and assessment methodologies based on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework. The programme brought together Heads and senior faculty members from 39 university departments for academic interaction and practical training.
Coimbatore: Bharathiar University organised a one-day workshop on “Curriculum Design and Assessment Methodologies based on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Framework” on September 3, bringing together senior academic leaders to strengthen approaches to curriculum development and assessment.
The workshop was conducted in association with the Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE) at the DRDO Seminar Hall on the Bharathiar University campus. Heads and senior faculty members representing 39 university departments participated in the programme.
The session was led by Dr. M.P. Vijayakumar, Vice-Chairman of TANSCHE and a retired IAS officer, who spoke on curriculum design and assessment methodologies within the OBE framework. He highlighted the importance of establishing a clear alignment between curriculum structure, teaching-learning processes and assessment practices and the intended learning outcomes.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. R. Rajavel, Registrar, Bharathiar University, in the presence of Prof. Dr. K. Srinivasan, Dean (in-charge), College Development Council. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Dr. N.R. Suresh Babu, Director (in-charge), UGC-MMTTC, Bharathiar University.
Beyond classroom discussions, the workshop incorporated practical sessions that enabled participants to apply OBE principles to curriculum development, formulation of learning outcomes and assessment practices. The hands-on approach was aimed at helping faculty members translate the framework into effective academic practices.
The programme also provided a platform for academic interaction and exchange of ideas among faculty members, while focusing on strengthening institutional capacity for the effective implementation of outcome-based education.
