Farmers Association members lodge complaint with Coimbatore SP seeking action on Alanthurai SI

The Farmers Association members sought action against the Alanthurai Sub-Inspector for alleged harassment of a farmer and damage of his farmland.


Coimbatore: The members of the Farmers Association lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, S Selvanagarathinam seeking action against an Alanthurai Sub-Inspector.

The Narayanasamy Naidu Farmers Association State President, A S Babu and members stated in the complaint that the Alanthurai Sub-Inspector allegedly harassed a farmer named Aarusamy and damaged his farmland.

Aaruswamy, a farmer from Srinivasapuram village in the Alanthurai Police station limits was reportedly threatened and prevented from farming by Sub-Inspector Anandakumar of Alanthurai, along with Devi, a woman from the same town. It has been alleged that Aarusamy had been facing troubles for the past 15 days, with his banana plantation and drip pipeline in the land being damaged. Their petition read that Aarusamy was subsequently threatened that he would be sued in case he raised any complaints or claimed compensation.

A S Babu has thus sought the Superintendent’s immediate action in the issue to save the livelihood of their fellow farmer.
