Coimbatore City Police have invoked the Goondas Act against Arun Kumar (39), who was arrested for allegedly abusing a person and issuing a death threat during an altercation at a pet shop on Nallampalayam Road, on July 25.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police have invoked the Goondas Act against a 39-year-old man in connection with an alleged death threat and abusive behaviour at a pet shop in the city.
The accused, identified as N. Arun Kumar (39), allegedly abused another person using offensive language and threatened to kill him during an altercation at a pet shop on Nallampalayam Road on July 25. A video purportedly showing the incident, in which Arun Kumar is seen engaged in a heated argument with another person, later circulated on social media.
Based on a complaint, C5 Kavundampalayam police registered a case and arrested Arun Kumar. He was subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
Based on the recommendations of the concerned police officials, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Dr. Kannan issued an order to detain him under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, commonly known as the Goondas Act, citing the nature of the alleged offence.
