Kangaraj, a 70-year-old from Krishnan Kovil Street in Ramanathapuram runs a grocery store in the area. Around noon today, a 10-year-old girl who came to the shop to buy snacks was sexually abused by Kanagaraj. The girl returned home and complained about it to her parents who were shocked about the abuse and filed a complaint at the Ramanathapuram Police station.
Following this, Kanagaraj was arrested under POCSO by the Ramanathapuram Police. They have also filed cases against him under five sections including issuing death threats and causing harm to human life.
