Coimbatore: A migrant worker employed at a brick kiln in Thadagam was killed in a lone elephant attack.

Many brick kilns operate in the areas of Chinna Thadagam and Periya Thadagam in Coimbatore. A lot of migrant workers are employed here. Elephant movement is also heavy in these areas as Thadagam is a part of the Reserve forest area and an elephant corridor.

The workers of the brick kilns tried to chase away a lone wild elephant that has been causing chaos in the Coimbatore forest area. The elephant that went into the forest unexpectedly turned around and attacked the brick kiln.

Babul Hussain, a young man from Odisha, was grievously hurt in this incident.

The forest department was informed immediately and they rushed to the spot and dorve the lone elephant into the forest. The injured young man was sent to the Coimbatore GH for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

The Police department and the Forest department are investigating the incident. Social activists criticised that the brick kilns lie on the elephant corridor and this leads to such untoward incidents.
