Coimbatore: A 22-year-old man who sexually harassed a class 9 student has been arrested and remanded under POCSO by the Periyanaickenpalayam police.
Coimbatore: A 22-year-old man who sexually harassed a class 9 student has been arrested and remanded under POCSO by the Periyanaickenpalayam police.
Das (22) of Bharathi Nagar in Periyanaickenpalayam sexually harassed his neighbour, a studentof class 9. He had allegedly told the girl that he was in love with her. On the day before yesterday he had taken the girl to the railway track nearby under the pretext that her brother was waiting for her. There, he sexually harassed her.
The girl who was frightened by this, did not go back to her house and stayed near a temple, overnight. When the girl did not arrive back home, her parents were about to lodge a complaint at the police station. However, the girl returned in the wee hours of the morning and narrated the incident.
Following this, her parents filed a complaint against Das at the Periyanaickenpalayam police station. Based on the complaint, police arrested Das and presented him at the court. He has been imprisoned at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
