Valparai Football Club felicitates MLA Kasturi Vasu for dredging Valaithottam River
Coimbatore: Members of Valparai Football Club felicitated MLA Kasturi Vasu for dredging Vazhaithottam River.
The Vazhaithottam River had been the Sorrow of Valparai for many years because it had not been dredged for a long time. During the rainy season the overflowing river would flood the residential areas on its banks and also the nearby Government Transport Workshop, which would lead to disruption of public transport. The people in Valparai requested the sitting MLA Kasturi Vasu to take up dredging of the river.
The MLA immediately took it upon herself to dredge the river. She initiated measures on a war footing as a result of which the river was dredged and widened from Gandhi Nagar to Stanmore Estate. Valparai experienced heavy rains over the past two weeks and the dredged river flooded as usual, but to the relief of the people, did not overflow into the adjoining areas.
This being the case, members of Valparai Football Club met with MLA Kasturi Vasu who visited Valparai today and felicitated her with shawls.
Coimbatore South Rural Minority Wing Hameed, Pon Ganesh, Salavudin and many party functionaries attended the event.
