Water Levels Rise in Aliyar, Parambikulam and Sholayar Dams

Water levels in three Coimbatore district dams rose as of September 21 due to southwest monsoon rains in their catchment areas, water resources department officials said. Aliyar Dam, near Anaimalai, with a capacity of 120 feet, stood at 63.3 feet, receiving inflow of 220 cubic feet per second and releasing 450 cubic feet per second. Parambikulam Dam, near Pollachi, with a capacity of 72 feet, rose to 53.63 feet, with inflow of 757 cubic feet per second and outflow of 530 cubic feet per second. Sholayar Dam in Valparai, with a capacity of 160 feet, reached 77.37 feet, recording inflow of 736 cubic feet per second and outflow of 507 cubic feet per second.


Coimbatore: Water levels in three major dams in Coimbatore district have risen following continuous rainfall in their catchment areas due to the southwest monsoon, water resources department officials said.

Aliyar Dam, located near Anaimalai, has a capacity of 120 feet. As of September 21, the water level stood at 63.3 feet due to inflow from rain received in the dam's catchment areas. The inflow into the dam was recorded at 220 cubic feet per second, while 450 cubic feet per second was being released from the dam.

Parambikulam Dam, located near Pollachi, has a capacity of 72 feet. Due to continuous inflow from the catchment areas caused by the southwest monsoon, the water level rose to 53.63 feet as of September 21. The inflow into the dam was recorded at 757 cubic feet per second, with 530 cubic feet per second being discharged from the dam.

Sholayar Dam in Valparai has a capacity of 160 feet. Due to rainfall in its catchment areas, the water level stood at 77.37 feet as of September 21. The inflow into the dam was recorded at 736 cubic feet per second, and 507 cubic feet per second was being released from the dam, water resources department officials said.
