Coimbatore: MDMK Youth Wing state secretary Engineer Easwaran led a demonstration in Pollachi, Coimbatore to press for the withdrawal of the new education policy of the Centre. Slogans were raised against the Centre for withdrawal of new education policy.
At the press meet he said, "The introduction of the new education policy will result in the implementation of entrance exams for all the courses. This might lead to the shattering of dreams of all the students, just like the NEET examination did for the medical dream of rural students. Coaching centers will become a norm and students cannot continue their education. Public exams for classes 3, 5, and 8 will lead to increased dropout rates when students fail in the exams. It is also condemnable that the TN CM has not expressed any opinion regarding this."
He further said, "This policy that snatches power from the state government and grants it to the central government must be revoked. The three language policy will only increase the burden of the students. This is a way to force Sanskrit. If the New Education Policy is not revoked then a massive protest involving parents, teachers and students will be undertaken."
