Under the circumstances, Velusamy, a contractor, who has submitted tenders for the project and was waiting for the sealed tender box to be opened, went half naked suddenly and started protesting against what he alleged as corrupt practices in awarding contracts.
He accused that the officer in charge of the tenders shows favouritism and instead of opening the sealed box in front of all the applicants and following the proper procedure to select the contractors, he just allocates the contracts to whom he prefers.
The half-naked protest created quite a stir in the area. Getting wind of this, Police arrived at the scene immediately and took Velusamy away for negotiations.
