All India National Cadet Corps girls’ trek begins

The annual All India NCC (Girls’) trek commenced on Wednesday on the premises of CSI College of Engineering, Ketti in The Nilgiris.

Cadets from various parts of the country including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Uttrakhand will be trekking a distance of approximately 80 km. passing through two staging camps over a period of eight days.

During the period, the trekkers are divided into two camps with the strength of 500 for the period from May 1 to 10 and May 21 to 30 and will be visiting the Radio Astronomy Centre, Tribal Museum, Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Silk Farm, DSSC Wellington and Sims Park.

The first batch consists of five NCC officers and 145 girls and the second batch consisting of five ANOs and 144 girls.

The trekking camp is organised under the aegis of NCC group, Coimbatore, led by Col KJM Roy, Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Coimbatore.

Base camp has been set up by 5 (TN) Girls Battalion NCC, Coimbatore, and staging camp - I by 4 (TN) Battalion NCC Coimbatore and staging camp-II has been set up by 12 (TN) Battalion NCC, Salem.
