With the upcoming festive season, Southern Railway will operate five weekly special train services between Thiruvananthapuram North and Santragachi from October 2 to November 2, 2026, via Coimbatore, Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem and Jolarpettai to meet increased passenger demand.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore: Southern Railway will operate weekly special trains between Thiruvananthapuram North and Santragachi Junction in West Bengal to cater to increased passenger demand during the upcoming festive season.
The services will operate via Podanur Junction, Tiruppur, Erode Junction, Salem Junction and Jolarpettai, according to a release issued by the Salem Division of Southern Railway on September 21, 2026.
Train No. 06081 Thiruvananthapuram North–Santragachi Junction Weekly Special will depart from Thiruvananthapuram North at 2.15 p.m. every Friday from October 2 to October 30, 2026, covering five services. It will reach Santragachi Junction at 1.45 p.m. on Sundays.
In the return direction, Train No. 06082 Santragachi–Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Special will depart from Santragachi Junction at 2.15 p.m. every Monday from October 5 to November 2, 2026, covering five services. It will reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 9.55 a.m. on Wednesdays.
The trains will comprise AC three-tier coaches and will stop at several stations, including Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad Junction, Podanur Junction, Tiruppur, Erode Junction, Salem Junction, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur and others.
The Thiruvananthapuram North–Santragachi special will reach Podanur at 11 p.m. and depart at 11.02 p.m. on Fridays. It will reach Tiruppur at 11.45 p.m. and depart at 11.50 p.m. On Saturdays, it will reach Erode at 12.45 a.m. and depart at 1 a.m., and reach Salem at 2 a.m.
The Santragachi–Thiruvananthapuram North special will reach Erode at 10.30 p.m. and depart at 10.40 p.m. on Tuesdays. It will reach Tiruppur at 11.20 p.m. and depart at 11.25 p.m., before reaching Podanur at 12.40 a.m. on Wednesdays.
