Due to track maintenance works, the Sengottai–Erode Express will terminate at Karur on September 22, 24 and 26, 2026, before operating as an unreserved special to Erode. Meanwhile, the Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express will terminate at Pugalur before running as a special to Tiruchchirappalli, with regular stoppages.
Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced that two train services will be short-terminated on September 22, 24 and 26, 2026, to facilitate sleeper renewal and track maintenance works being carried out between Murthipalayam and Karur railway stations.
The changes will affect Train No. 16846 Sengottai–Erode Express and Train No. 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express.
Train No. 16846 Sengottai–Erode Express, scheduled to depart from Sengottai at 5.20 a.m., will be short-terminated at Karur Junction on September 22, 24 and 26. After completion of the maintenance works, the train will operate as an unreserved special train from Karur to Erode Junction, with the same stoppages as the regular Sengottai–Erode Express.
Train No. 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express, scheduled to depart from Palakkad Town at 6.30 a.m., will be short-terminated at Pugalur Railway Station on September 22, 24 and 26. Pugalur Railway Station is situated between Kodumudi and Karur railway stations. After completion of the maintenance works, the train will operate as an unreserved special train from Pugalur to Tiruchchirappalli Junction, with the same stoppages as the regular Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express.
Passengers travelling on these dates are advised to take note of the revised service arrangements and plan their journeys accordingly.
