Southern Railway has announced changes to the services of the Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express and Coimbatore–Nagercoil Express on September 15, 17 and 19, with the latter set to be diverted and skip several scheduled stoppages.
Coimbatore:. Train services on two routes will be altered on September 15, 17 and 19 to facilitate sleeper renewal and track maintenance works between Murthipalayam and Karur railway stations.
According to Southern railway, Train No. 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express, scheduled to leave Palakkad Town at 6.30 a.m., will be short-terminated at Pugalur railway station on all three days. (Pugalur is located between Kodumudi and Karur railway stations).
After the completion of the works, the train will be operated as an unreserved special service between Pugalur and Tiruchchirappalli Junction, with the same stoppages as Train No. 16844.
Similarly, Train No. 16322 Coimbatore–Nagercoil Express, scheduled to leave Coimbatore Junction at 8 a.m., will be diverted between Coimbatore and Dindigul on September 15, 17 and 19. The train will operate via Podanur, Pollachi and Palani.
As a result, the train will skip its scheduled stoppages at Coimbatore North, Peelamedu, Singanallur, Irugur, Sulur Road, Somanur, Tiruppur, Uttukuli, Ingur, Erode, Pasur, Kodumudi, Pugalur, Karur, Palaiyam and Eriodu stations.
Alternative stoppages will, however, be provided at Podanur, Kinattukkadavu, Pollachi, Udumalaippettai, Palani and Oddanchatram railway stations.
