Two men, Madan and Sathish Kumar, were arrested for allegedly assaulting an employee at the bar attached to TASMAC Shop No. 1602 in Kovilmedu, Coimbatore, and threatening him with a broken beer bottle.
Coimbatore: Two men were arrested for allegedly assaulting an employee of a TASMAC bar in Kovilmedu and threatening him with a broken beer bottle, while police are searching for a third accused who is absconding.
The complainant, Yuvraj (24), a native of Karuppattipatti in Pudukkottai district, works at the bar attached to TASMAC shop No. 1602 in Kovilmedu.
According to the police, three men — Madan alias Pakkiri Madan (31), Sathish Kumar (41) and Manoj — who were regular customers at the bar, allegedly arrived there and consumed alcohol. They were allegedly intoxicated and created a disturbance, using abusive language and causing inconvenience to other customers.
Yuvraj reportedly asked them to behave without disturbing others. An argument followed, during which the three allegedly caught hold of his shirt, tore it, slapped him and pushed him to the ground.
The men allegedly picked up an empty beer bottle, broke it and threatened to kill Yuvraj, police said.
Based on Yuvraj’s complaint, the Saibaba Colony police registered a case and arrested Madan and Sathish Kumar. They were remanded in judicial custody. Police are searching for Manoj, who allegedly fled from the spot.
