Coimbatore: All government liquor shops, bars, and establishments serving alcohol across Coimbatore district will remain closed on March 31, 2026, Tuesday, in observance of Mahavir Jayanti, which has been declared a dry day.

District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar issued the order on March 28, directing the closure of all liquor outlets including government liquor stores, bars (FL), recreational clubs (11.2), star hotels (FL), establishments operated by Tamil Nadu Hotel (FLA) Tourism Department (FL3AA), and outlets selling imported foreign liquor varieties (FL).

The order prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages on this day. Anyone found selling liquor in violation of these regulations, illegally stocking alcohol, or transporting liquor from one place to another will face strict action under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act 1937, the Collector warned.
