Police Seize 2.4 kg Cannabis, Arrest Three Youth in Coimbatore

Three youth were arrested in Ramasettipalaiyam area under Perur Police Station limits in Coimbatore for possessing cannabis for sale. Police seized 2.4 kg of cannabis and a two-wheeler during the operation conducted today.


Coimbatore: Police arrested three youth who were hoarding cannabis for sale in the Ramasettipalaiyam area under Perur Police Station limits in Coimbatore district.

Assistant Inspector Vinoth and constables from Perur Police Station were engaged in crime prevention patrol duty today in areas including Ramasettipalaiyam, Sundakkamuthur, and Arumugakovundanur.

Based on secret information received, they conducted surveillance near a rental house owned by one Sathasivam. When three persons spotted the police and attempted to flee, they were apprehended and questioned.

During interrogation, it was revealed that they were hoarding banned cannabis for sale. The suspects were identified as Saravanan from Selvapuram area, and Vignesh (22) and Hari Raghavendra (22) from Sundakkamuthur area.

Subsequently, police seized 2.400 kg of cannabis and a two-wheeler vehicle that they had stored. A case was registered against the three under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The accused were produced before the court and remanded to Coimbatore Central Prison.
